We're nearly there, guys! With the penultimate two-parter having aired last night, we're in the final leg of Series 2! The first part of Enemy of the Bane airs on the CBBC Channel this Monday, with the epic series finale airing on December 8th. The finale sees the return of old foes, even older friends and an epic edge-of-your-seat showdown at an ancient stone circle!
Rather depressing how the second series seems to have gone by in a flash, eh? Feels like only yesterday we were all anticipating the premiere of The Last Sontaran! But for every cloud there's a silver lining.
The good folk over at the BBC Press Office have officially revealed that the Sarah Jane Adventures is back for a third series!

The good folk over at the BBC Press Office have officially revealed that the Sarah Jane Adventures is back for a third series!
On CBBC, Sarah Jane Smith (Elisabeth Sladen) returns for a third series of The Sarah Jane Adventures in Autumn 2009, produced by Doctor Who supremo Russell T Davies.
Together with her companions Rani and Clyde and her adopted son Luke, Sarah Jane once again comes face to face with a whole host of weird and wonderful alien beings.
What a brilliant early Christmas present! We knew that the third series was a shoe-in, considering they were planning to film the second and third series together at one point. But now it's official! Officially official! Will it be another 12-episode run? Or perhaps even more? Only time will tell. Stay tuned!
JACKHARKNESS UPDATE:
JACKHARKNESS UPDATE:
As I understand it, the current 'plan' is to produce and then air the third series of the SJA around the end of September through to December 2009. Then the fourth series of Torchwood will broadcast around February 2010 and conclude before the fifth season of Doctor Who (now helmed by Steven Moffat) kicks off. Following that, neither Torchwood or the SJA will be recommissioned, to allow Moffat a clean break, away from the interference that two spin-offs series - both closely tied to the mother show - would invoke.

Jack, I just read the words - but did not comprehend. Are you saying there's no more SJA after Series 3?! :O
That's what I'm saying: the current intention is to just produce ONE MORE SERIES, and then nada.
Anthony.
I think we should start a petition now to keep both Torchwood and Sarah Jane!
That makes me sad, really sad. :(
Typical bloody Doctor Who. We get some good news and nobody comes crawling out of the woodwork to spoil it. I don't for one second believe that The Sarah Jane Adventures will be cancelled after Series Three, it is too successful.
Oh well they can't exactly keep this going forever. It's a kids show so sooner or later Clyde and Rani have to be written out because they're no longer deemed identifiable for the target audience. Once they do that we're either stuck with a young adult Luke and two new and younger kids (read: bad idea) or Luke will move out and we'll start over from scratch (read: bad idea).
You know this is television, not the solving of the Middle East hostilities. To say that the spin-off shows somehow interfere with the parent show is beyond assinine.
Would it really be such a chore for Steven Moffat and the Spin-off showrunner to sit down and discuss a common path? Or heaven forbid, maybe SM gets to helm the spinoffs too, once RTD tires of them. Regardless, if they're popular shows and give the license fee payers good value (and sell lots of DVDs), it would be stupid to cancel them for the reason suggested.
I concur on the petition idea. I've seen too many shows killed before their time. SJA is NOT going to join that list. I'd have hoped at the very least that it'd survive till the end of its fourth series.
well well very angry about that
:( but you never know they could end up killing off Rani and Clyde and make it a Luke and Mariah companion show seeing as they are still young
While it's obvious that re-writing three shows and still writing scripts is a hell of a job (one wonders how RTD ever managed) Moffat can't be forced to do. One could argue that he can just let someone else handle the spin-offs but that still doesn't solve the ageing problem. I think it's safe to say Daniel won't be in a fourth series which will effectively kill the show. As (ignoring invasion of the Bane) there will only be two original cast members left.
I can understand the reasoning behind cutting SJA after the third series because of the kids growing up, but it's still sad.
Mostly, though, I'm upset about the idea of Torchwood getting cut. Torchwood has proven itself so far and has improved greatly in just the second series in comparison to its shaky first series. If it keeps on going the way it's going, I think it could be really really great. So that's completely unreasonable. And I'm sure most of the fandom can't bear the thought of losing Jack so soon.
Let's not get too excited about any of this, A LOT can happen between now and then. Right now I'm really glad to hear that there will be more seasons of both - especially SJA which I was worried wasn't going to make it past the first series.
After all it wasn't that long ago that Doctor Who itself was a dead issue, which was awful. Let's be happy with what we have so far, and work on the BBC to keep them - at least we now have advance warning to mount retention campaigns.
Well you know what i wish Russel and all the other writers of SJA nd Torchwood could just get toghether LEAVINS STEPHEN MOFFAT and write just a series 4 for SJA and series 5 for torchwood and leave it at that i'm sure that would be reasnoble up to Series 4 atleast and end them with really dramatic endings i dont see why STEPHEN has to get involved with the spinoffs I really hope Russel and the writers consider writing just 2 more series' for each show AFTER SERIES 3 OF SJA AND SERIES 4 OF TORCHWOOD AIR if i had to choose 1 of the spinoffs to remain SJA without a doubt would be 1st choice even though toechwood is great
This is all just speculation. I don't see the point of worrying about any of this right now...
Where did this information come from initially and what makes it valid?
I checked into the source with jack, it's someone who works on Doctor Who. Can't really say more without compromising his position, but he has a fairly significant role in the crew.
Has anyone realised as they grow up , so do we .... if we keep watching it then that will be a great audiunce as it is just now , problemo sovled.

Hmm... didn't seem to do Doctor Who any harm...
I hope they reconsider, I think it would be a real shame to end it so soon. Although I do feel we've been lucky even to have had the show.
But they've given us a taste now! Once you go Sarah Jane, you can't go back :D I don't think Clyde will leave in the fourth series. Though he does really want to do movies, apparantly.
This isn't official. I think it is just opinion with a bit of gossip mixed in. I wouldn't worry.
"I don't think Clyde will leave in the fourth series. Though he does really want to do movies, apparantly."
Dan Anthony has said that in one interview if I remember rightly. It doesn't mean he's going to go after that series.
Plus, there is no rule saying you can't do films and television as an actor or actress.
