Birthday Bidding

In honour of Tommy Knight's birthday, who turns 16 today, SARAH-JANE.tv have put a signed SJA Series 1 boxset up for auction on eBay!

The boxset is signed by six leading cast members, comes with three official first series postcards and includes free postage and packaging, to boot!

100% of the proceeds of sale will be donated to the Demelza House Children's Hospice, an organisation providing hospice care for over 450 children with life-limiting illnesses, and a cause close to Tom's heart:

If you don't feel up to bidding a huge amount, but still want to support Tom's charity of choice, why not donate to Demelza directly? The auction ends on Februrary 1st - which, coincidentally, happens to be Lis Sladen's birthday!

In other news, Issue 62 of the Battles In Time magazine, which went on sale yesterday, comes with an exclusive pack of ten SJA trading cards! If, like me, you don't subscribe to the magazine and really want to get a hold of them, you can either purchase a back issue or have a wander through eBay.

EDIT: The auction has now ended. We raised £132.01!

Bad Wolf!

On the weekend of July 11th and 12th 2009, the Bad Wolf convention will be playing host to SJA's leading lady, Elisabeth Sladen, and SJA script editor, Gary Russell! Known for his contributions toward Invasion of the Bane and Enemy of the Bane, Russell has also written three of the current SJA novelisations - including Warriors of Kudlak, The Lost Boy and The Last Sontaran. Outside of SJA, he's written the Doctor Who Encyclopedia and directed The Infinite Quest!

The venue for the event is the Hilton Metropole Hotel in Birmingam. Adult day passes [which entitle you to one free autograph from every guest and to sit in on every guest panel] are going for £50 a pop, whilst children between the age of 7-16 can get in for £15 [minus the autograph perks] if accompanied by an attending adult. With Birmingham only a half-hour away, I'll be sure to go!

Utterly Darling

Had the opportunity to pop down to Windsor yesterday with some friends to see our very own Elisabeth Sladen in Peter Pan! There was only a day left before the production was over, and the chance to see Lis in Victorian garb and a deeply flattering mermaid costume was too good to miss!

Our little gang of Sarah Jane fanatics pretty much took up an entire row!

Lis was born to play the part of Mrs Darling [Wendy's mother]. As a mermaid, she even made a well-placed reference to 'The Chronicles of Sarah Jane'!

After the show, I and some friends from The Sarah Jane Smith Wardrobe Appreciation Society and Girl Reporter headed 'round to the back of the theatre and waited for Lis in a freezing cold alley!

She made an appearance not long after, signed a few programmes and even took a few pictures with us! Lis was as charming as ever, and after wishing her the best of luck for the last day of production - we all headed off to the nearest pub! We've decided that we want to see Lis in a musical next!

Becoming A Legend

Tommy Knight, star of The Sarah Jane Adventures, will be taking up a rather different role to the adorkably innocent Luke Smith this weekend. He'll be playing Paris in the first of six BBC shorts retelling ancient Greek stories in a modern-day setting. The show description is as follows:
There's love, loss, evil, adventure, mystery, death, motorbikes, The Saturdays and some serious snogging in this modern retelling of the ancient Greek myths. Each episode is based on a different myth and tells the story of a group of teenagers living in the village of Delphi.
The first story, titled Paris and the Goddesses, is based on The Judgement of Paris - a Greek myth involving a beauty contest between three goddesses [Aphrodite, Hera and Athena], judged by a mortal prince called Paris. Throughout the story, the goddesses try to sway his vote in their favour by using every temptation in their arsenal. How does it all turn out in the end? Watch Myths this Saturday at 12.45pm on BBC Two to find out!

There For You

January 1st, 2009 - not simply a day to celebrate the new year, but a day to mark the second anniversary of our favourite show, too!

It was all the way back on New Years Day, 2007 that Invasion of the Bane first premiered on BBC1 at 4.50pm. The show made quite an impression, and the memory of the pilot was firmly etched on my mind for life(!) Two years on, and my loyalty toward The Sarah Jane Adventures still stands strong. =3

In the past year, I've become a part of the online SJA fandom, been taken on as a writer for this blog and I've even had the privilege of meeting the cast:

I've also thrown an SJA party, met up with other SJA fans and helped Tommy Knight raise money for charity! Our blog's also reported to you from Lis Sladen's Chicago TARDIS appearance, as well as her Bath Festival appearance - where we were the first site on the interwebs to exclusively reveal the covers and plot details of the new SJA audiobooks!

We were also the first to discover the cancellation and discontinuation of the SJA Board Game and toysets, the first to offer you previously unseen glimpses of the SJA boxset prior to its release in the UK and the first to reveal the original plan of the BBC to end SJA after its third series.

SARAH-JANE.tv has been there for you every step of the way in 2008, and we'll continue to be there for you throughout 2009. Here's hopin' that this time next year, we'll be getting the green light for a fourth series of the show! 'Cause so long as SJA is still around, there'll always be news to post. =D
