The Big Day

It's arrived! Months after his appearence was announced, David Tennant finally appears in The Sarah Jane Adventures this afternoon - playing the Tenth Doctor, in a crossover episode that marks one of the last five times* we'll have a chance to see him on screen.

IT'S THE FINAL COUNTDOWN... *SOB*

No doubt there's some new faces visiting this site today, drawn into the SJA series because of the crossover. If you're one of those visitors, then welcome to SARAH-JANE.tv, one of the internet's longest running fansites dedicated solely to The Sarah Jane Adventures. Yes, we've been here since 2006, reporting all things Sarah Jane Smith every other day.

It's great to know you've stumbled upon us, and we hope you enjoy the stay!

Back to the news! Elisabeth Sladen and Russell T Davies appeared together on BBC Breakfast this morning to discuss The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith, as well as the forthcoming Doctor Who special - The Waters of Mars (for which a new clip was 'exclusively' shown).

Lis will be on the panel for tomorrow's The Wright Stuff, on Five. It runs from 9:15am, and is repeated on digital channel Fiver at 12:30pm. Because of the topical nature of the show, it's quite impossible to predict exactly what they'll be discussing, mind!

Finally, the BBC Press Office has released information for the finale adventure to the SJA's third series, The Gift:

Part One: Sarah Jane, Luke, Clyde and Rani face an old enemy, the green Slitheen. When the Slitheen's latest scheme is halted, their rivals, the Blathereen, arrive. Declaring peace between the planets, they offer Sarah Jane a gift – one that might change the future of the human race forever.

Part Two: When the Blathereens' gift runs riot, Sarah Jane faces the battle of her life to save her son, Luke. With Clyde, Rani and K9 trapped in a school under siege, and the whole of London convulsing under the alien threat, everything heads for a final showdown in the attic – and not everyone is getting out alive...

Rumour has it (SPOILERS - highlight to reveal) that at the conclusion to this adventure Sarah Jane bids farewell to her metal mutt K9, who makes a heroic sacrifice...

You can catch The Gift on Thursday 19th and Friday 20th November.

In the meantime...

Remember!! The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith - Part One airs today, 4:35pm concurrent on BBC One and BBC HD.

*Still to come: The Waters of Mars, Dreamland and the Christmas Day/New Years Day two-part finale.

Oh no! I really hope that doesn't happen in The Gift!

But still, super excited for tonight! Not long to go now.

No that is not happening. If this is becuase of the new K9 series then I am quite angry at Bob Baker/Park Entertainemnt. Although we've got to think about this... We have K9 Mark I who left with Leela (in The Invasion of Time) to stay on Gallifrey and we also have K9 Mark II who left with Romana II (in Warriors Gate) and in Big finish stuff she went on to become president of Gallifrey. Now we know that Gallifrey was destroyed in the Time War (or was it - after looking and some Christmas Special photos, I'm not so sure) so those two K9s (Marek I and II) have probably been destroyed so they can't come back (but then if Mark I is in this new TV Series then K9 Mark I must have left Leela and Gallifrey - possibly after Leela died??? and gonje into this series, so maybe Mark 1 could come back. But that means continuity-wise he would look like the new design which I presume is Copyright to Bob Baker/Park Entertainment). So now we go onto
K9 Mark 3 which was given to Sarah Jane (in K9 and company) but sacrificed himself in School Reunion). But the Doctor builds Sarah Jane a new K9 (I presume with the old data/memories of the old one) this is K9 Mark IV and this is the model we see in the Sarah Jane Adventures. So if K9 makes a "heroic sacrifice" in "The Gift" then couldn't a new one be built???? Will we be seeing a K9 Mark V any time soon. I'd love to here everyone's comments and theories on this!

I was actually tearing up all over again when I read that spoiler - I really hope, for the first time EVER, that it's wrong. And TARDIS Key is right - this better not be because of that new series, because it's just wrong to take him away from the Attic again. Sarah loves him so much, and the kids evidently do too.

As for today's episode... as stunning today as it was on Saturday, and thanks to the relative privacy my little room affords, I was able to yell all those things I was dieing to say on Saturday. For instance, "THAT'S NOT AN ANGEL, YOU NITWIT!!" [To Peter, obviously]. And "Luke, why THE HELL aren't you listening to your best friend???"

Hope everyone else enjoyed it too!! I know what I'm going to spend my free time tomorrow re-watching...

Why is it everytime one of my favorite shows has an episode called "The Gift" some has to die?

Considering K9 was a gift from the Doctor, the title may have a double meaning, eh?

I do think it would be cruel to kill him off again. Especially when the Doctor's going to be too busy in the next few months *sob* to worry about replacing him.

Oh and--how were the numbers on this episode? Can hardly wait to hear!

They better give him a better farewell than they did with him in School Reunion. They just pretty much sent him in Rambo-style and no one really cared about the consequences. I hope his departure feels like a genuine loss this time...
