They don't make them like they used to. Graeme Harper first directed Doctor Who almost 25 years ago, at a time when the show's quality was already in a slow decline. Yet his episodes are among the best ever recorded. No wonder he was invited back to the fold, to join the NuWho team in Cardiff for - so far - six episodes of the revived show.

His talents have now been invested in "The Sarah Jane Adventures", where he's directing teo half an hour episodes, that form one complete hour long adventure. Personally I've no doubt that he'll pull it off. Because he's Graeme Harper; the stuff of legend.

You can now pre-order a book by the man himself, explaining some of the techniques that go into directing for television and the big screen. In "Calling the Shots", Harper takes us on a guided tour of the recording of season's two "Cybermen" four episodes. It's an opportunity for readers to learn a few trade secrets, direct from Cardiff itself!

The book is released later this month, and is available to pre-order here for a very reasonable £11.49

Don't forget that today sees the release of classic series adventure "Robot" on DVD - featuring Elisabeth Sladen's Sarah Jane Smith, and the introduction of Tom Baker's Fourth Doctor, not to mention Ian Marter as Harry Sullivan. As well as a number of other special features, the DVD also features Sladen on the commentary track. More please!
