For The Children

The BBC Press Office today unveiled a brand new look for their CBBC brand - which includes a brand new logo, new presenters and a handful of news shows (including our very own Sarah Jane Adventures). The press release has this to say:

"The BBC today unveiled a brand new look for CBBC, the channel for 6 to 12-year-olds, with a fantastic range of brilliant new programmes, a distinctive new logo and brand new animated idents.

The new content and new image firmly establish CBBC's position as a truly multiplatform brand available on BBC One, BBC Two, the digital CBBC channel and bbc.co.uk/cbbc.

The new season and new look will be on air and online from 3 September 2007.

CBBC also welcomes a new face in the form of Ed Petrie, who will host CBBC every weekday afternoon.

Anne Gilchrist, Creative Director, CBBC said: 'I'm really excited about the prospect of more children finding out about the great new content CBBC is offering – and then passing it on to their friends.'

Highlights premiering on CBBC this autumn include The Sarah Jane Adventures. Created by multi-award winning Doctor Who writer Russell T Davies and starring Elisabeth Sladen as one of The Doctor's most famous former companions, investigative journalist Sarah Jane Smith, expect to bump into some familiar alien enemies from Doctor Who."

The Sarah Jane Adventures is expected to kick off on the afternoon CBBC segment of BBC One this coming September. No exact TX details have yet been released.
