...By Any Other Name

Firstly, before I continue, can I just sat a huge thanks to Clay, Tom and the rest of the team behind Doctor Who Magazine (if you're reading, a massive hello!). You're producing a fantastic read every month, and this month especially, I couldn't put your publication down once. Stand proud folks!

MEET TEAM SMITH!

Now, having finally put down this month's copy, I've some rather cool revelations about the Sarah Jane Adventures special. Oh, and I've saved the biggest news to last - so feel free to skip ahead a little, just make sure you return back up here some time soon!

1: There's a neat little one page preview of "The Sarah Jane Adventures" special, which features a Russell T Davies interview. The bossman talks about fan responce to "School Reunion" and the decision to bring Sarah-Jane back to our television screens. Oh, and there's some pretty new pictures for us to revel at (and I'll post them in the next couple of days)...

2: The news section also previews the series, revealing that Murray Gold won't be composing the music for the special. He's far too busy a man at the moment - and so composer duty falls to Sam Watts.

3: Despite point 2, Murray Gold has written the theme tune.

4: Writer Gareth Roberts talks in the regular "Script Doctors" feature. As well as talking about his forthcoming Doctor Who episode ("The Shakespeare Code"), Roberts discusses the SJA special (which he co-scripted with Russell T Davies). The man confesses that they'll be few Doctor Who references in the series, and discusses how he landed the SJA gig. Oh, and get this (as if we didn't already guess); it's unlikely that the Sarah Jane Adventures will crossover with Torchwood. Upsetting, because I couldn't wait for the Captain Jack / K9 love scene...

5: Gareth Roberts will be writing more of the Sarah Jane Adventures scripts next year...

6: In his "Production Notes" column, Russell T Davies can't praise SJA enough: "Oh! And it's lovely! Absolutely lovely! I absoutely LOVE it!". The Executive Producer hopes that he's done Elisabeth Sladen proud - and jugding by what we've seen so far, I think he has.

7: Series one of "The Sarah Jane Adventures" (or whatever it's called - see bottom) will be a series of ten episodes. Breaking this down further, they'll be five adventures (all two parters). It's expected that Gareth Roberts will write two of these adventures (so four episodes in total). Our episode guide has been upgraded in responce to this news...

8: Next issue they'll be a behind the scenes look on the Sarah Jane Adventures Special. Expect the issue to hit news stand around 4th January 2007...

9: Russell T Davies reveals that the New Year's Day special is only unoffically titled "Invasion of the Bane". Infact, the episode will have no specific on-air title...

10: Ah. Titles. Where to begin? Russell T Davies has decided that, after all, the full series of Sarah Jane Adventures might have to have a name change - after it was discovered that the title was too big to fit onto some formats of digital television listings. Russell suggests new titles like "The SJA", "SJS", "Sarah Jane", "Sarah and Co." and (um...) "Vortex". No decision will made until the series launches next year. If you've got your own suggestions, leave a commnet below for all to see! Give Russell.T a run for his money!

Finally, it's our honour to announce that Elisabeth Sladen won a DWM Award for "Best Supporting Actress". Her season two return ("School Reunion") was voted the third best adventure of 2006 - with Sarah Jane voted the second best companion ever in the series history, after Rose Tyler.

So, until next time, toodles for now.

And prepare for the Adventure...
