As readers of my Torchwood blog will already know, today was the day I finally got round to buying a copy of the Christmas edition of the Radio Times. And boy... it features numberous goodies for fans of New Who everywhere.
LOOK WHAT SANTA'S BROUGHT YOU LUCKY PEOPLE...
On the Sarah Jane Adventures front, we get a short interview with Elisabeth Sladen herself. She tells the magazine: "It was like a big punch in the stomach for Sarah Jane to meet Doctor Who again... Sarah has advantages that journalists don't normally have. Remember, she's been in the TARDIS. She recognises when things aren't quite right; she has a nose for it."
There's a plot synopsis for what is now offically billed as "Invasion of the Bane"(as we reported earlier in the month): "This one-off special acts as a taster for the new children's series set to air later this year (2007) and follows Doctor Who's former assistant Sarah Jane Smith. Now working as an investigative journalist, she joins forces with her 13-year-old neighbour Maria to fight evil alien forces at work in Britain. Their first case sees the duo come up against the scheming Ms Wormwood."
Inlike originally thought, the episode will not broadcast simutaneously on both BBC One and the CBBC Channel - infact, the special isn't even repeated on CBBC (like one would expect) at all over the festive season. There's no news yet on when or if the SJA special will even repeat at all. Watch this space.
So, there we have it. The magazine will no doubt have furth coverage of the series when production on the 10 part season begins in January. One of my sources still believes a April / May broadcast looks likely for the series.
Until then, be prepared for a very special New Year's Day episode. It'a sure to blown you away, and convert many to the title of "Smithie"...
19 days and counting folks...
