The shortlist for 2008's BAFTA Childrens Awards have been released - and The Sarah Jane Adventures finds itself nominated for Best Drama of the last 12 months. The awards celebrate the very best that British film and television have to offer, and will be given out on November 3oth in a glamourous ceremony hosted - maybe - by regular Keith Chegwin., at the London Hilton.
Under 14 year olds are eligable to vote for the awards here.
Meanwhile the Doctor Who DVD Restoration Team have released information for the upcoming "Battlefield" disc - directed by Michael Kerrigan (who also helmed both "Day of the Clown" and "Secrets of the Stars" for the SJA) and starring Sylvestor McCoy as the Seventh Doctor, reunited with his old friend Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart (Nicholas Courtney).
Disc one features the story, as originally transmitted on BBC One way back in 1989. The second disc features an extended recut of the story, with new music, added scenes and CGI effects - akin to the previously released "Curse of Fenric" DVD which includes a movie edition of the serial.
Extras include a commentary track between Sophie Aldred (Ace), Nicholas Courtney, Angela Bruce, writer Ben Aaronovitch and script editor Andrew Cartmel. There's also:
+ Storm Over Avallion - behind the scenes, talking to cast and crew.
+ Past and Future King - how the story came to be commissioned.
+ Watertank - a look at the infamous watertank stunt that went horribly wrong...
+ From Kingdom to Queen - a talk with actress Jean Marsh.
+ Studio recording - recordings made during production.
+ Trailers (including a contemporary "Season 26" trailer)
"Battlefield" is released on December 29th, and you can get it for 20 of your British pounds.

Very exciting indeed! The cast are sure to be in attendance to accept their inevitable award! Do the BAFTA's have a red carpet? Wish I could go to report on it!
The mark of the Berseker was great i'd say probably a front runner for the best episode this series!
This episode see's sarah jane leaving all three compainons for the weekend Luke stays at besfriends clyde's house while rani stays at home with her dad while her mum too is away for the weekend! The shows starter is excellent and gets straight to the root of this story and shows that Rani can be a snoop when she wants to be. I felt that Clyde did go out with his dad a little too quickly though but still every show has its errors even Doctor Who
I liked how Rani was smart and didn't give in to the Pendants power for long and done the Right thing by keeping it in sarah jane's attic! I felt the last few scenes were good, but i wish Clyde didn't tell his dad about the aliens and stuff(Dont know how Sarah jane will respond to this news) Clyde's dad seems like a selfish money grabber i don't like him, the only negative thing to say is That like "Who cares" stated is that the sarah jane adventures did overuse the whole "controlling accpect" THIS SERIES the shows nxt time did remind me of Secrets of the Stars when Paul said I CAN CONTROL THE WHOLE WORD. But overall my favourite episode 8/10
My little brother decided to vote for SJA. He nearly chose Phineas and Ferb but changed his mind at the last moment.
..or was it Shaun the Sheep? Anyway, he voted SJA in the end that's what is important!
Good on yer son for voting SJA! Award's in the bag!
As for Mark of the Beserker.
One word...SLASH!!!
Why do woman always see slash in everything. Apparently it's impossible these days to write two mates without half the female audience going omg they're lovers. Now I've nothing against gay people but people who see those kind of things in entertainment aimed at kids where there sure as hell is no such subtext really need to see a shrink.
Back to mark of the berserker. I've already talked about about the whole possession thing last week so let's get to the episode itself which is probably the best one so far this season. As we get to see Clyde from a more vulnerable side we haven't really seen before. He's got a nice enough mother (get her in more often, thanks) but his father is less likeable. Good to see him mention the daleks though finally someone who isn't a complete moron in that regard and with Sarah-Jane and Mr. Smith being unavailable they're going to have to solve this one the old-fashioned way which is a nice change. Mr.Chandra didn't have one of his best days though...
Lol, I'm part of the male audience - and I DEFINITELY saw slash. The foot, OMG. Not to mention Sarah Jane and Gita going off for the weekend at the same time... Suspicious :D
Keep in mind Sarah Jane's brother shows. The subtext on SJA is a lot more subtle, but ye gods, it's thar :P And if it isn't then, well - no harm done, 'cause it's a fanship and doesn't have to be canon.
Talking about gay subtext. Mr. Chandra obviously thinks Clyde is a bad boy. LOL
FYI, Tom, Dan and Anjli are to present an award at this years children's BAFTAS.
Ooh, you heard aboot that too? :D Info isn't publicly available yet so I held my tongue :P
As far as I am aware, it is publically avaliable. Naming no names, a certain actor's parent was very forthcoming with the information.
Well it's pretty public if it's on his website :P I guess if she decided to share the info, then my conscience is clear :)
